Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology

Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology

Gynaecological conditions can develop in women of all ages, including those who aren’t yet suited to an adult approach to treatment. For patients under age 18, a specialised approach to everything gynae can be best.

Northside Gynaecology is proud to provide a unique paediatric and adolescent gynaecology service specially tailored to help young patients and their families effectively manage a wide variety of conditions. Our all-female team of gynaecologists understand that each case is different, and we take each patient’s individual needs into account when designing a treatment plan.

Let’s take a deeper look at how we can help.

What to expect at your appointment

Your first appointment will be 40-60 minutes long. After you’ve had your full medical history taken, your doctor may conduct a small examination to gain a better understanding of your condition. Your doctor will also answer any questions you have and will let you know if more tests need to be conducted.

What to bring?

Remember to bring:
  • A copy of your GP referral
  • Your Medicare and/or private health insurance card
  • A list of any mediations you’re currently taking (including over-the-counter and herbal medications)
  • Any relevant imaging or test results

If you are 14 or under, you will also need to bring a parent or guardian with you to your appointment. You are also welcome to bring one if you are over age 14, especially if you’re not sure that you can make the important decisions on your own.

Your referral will need to be sent in before your appointment so we can triage and manage your booking appropriately. You can ask your GP to do this on your behalf at your referral appointment.
