MonaLisa Touch | For Patients

What is the MonaLisa Touch™?

MonaLisa Touch™ is a non-invasive alternative to HRT for the treatment of symptoms related to Vaginal Atrophy.

It is a five minute, pain free procedure that has no downtime and is suitable for almost all patients suffering from the effects of Vaginal Atrophy. These symptoms can include painful intercourse, urinary incontinence, itchiness, burning, dryness, mild prolapse and laxity.

Most patients experience a noticeable improvement after just one MonaLisa Touch treatment, however a course of three treatments 4-6 weeks apart is recommended. Patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately following a MonaLisa Touch™ procedure with the only post-treatment instruction being no sexual activity for five days.

MonaLisa Touch™ was introduced into Australia in January 2013 and more than 10,000 treatments have been performed. The feedback from the Australian doctors performing the treatments is that MonaLisa Touch™ is consistently exceeding their expectations. And for many of the patients who have experienced the MonaLisa Touch™ procedure it has been life-changing. MonaLisa Touch™ is a low-risk procedure that provides longer-lasting improvements than HRT. However, it can be used in conjunction with HRT, as an alternative treatment for patients who are not suitable for HRT or for those patients who have found HRT to be ineffective.

MonaLisa Touch™ works by stimulating the body’s own regenerative processes to create more hydrated and healthy cells and to improve the vascularity of the vaginal mucosa. This has a direct effect on the integrity and elasticity of the vaginal wall and increases the acidity of the vaginal environment to more normal levels. In general terms MonaLisa Touch™ improves the function and health of the vagina. MonaLisa Touch™ is proving to be an exciting and effective solution for many women experiencing the symptoms of Vaginal Atrophy.

Where can I have the treatment?

Firstly you will need to have a referral from your GP to come and visit our doctor's. There you can see us at any of our locations for the consultation.  Once you are assessed by our specialists and ready to be booked for the treatment we then book you at our main office at Kedron for the laser.

How much will it cost me?

Please speak with our staff regarding the costs for the MonaLisa Touch™.  Please note that at this stage there is no Medicare item number for the treatment therefor it is not a Medicare claimable procedure (or private health insurance).

How many treatments do I need?

As a general rule most patient's require 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart.  After that you will have a review appointment with the doctor 3 months after your last treatment.  At the 3 month mark following your MonaLisa Touch treatments your best results will be known.  Some patients require another 1 or 2 treatments at this stage, however everyone is different and the doctor will advise you if this is required.

Does it last forever?

Most patient's will require a "top-up" treatment 12 months afterwards.

How soon can I be booked in?

Please call our staff to book in a time for your consultation so we can get your treatment underway as soon as possible.
