Why you should choose Northside Gynaecology for your MonaLisa Touch

Why you should choose Northside Gynaecology for your MonaLisa Touch

Menopause is not a disease or a condition that needs treatment; it is a natural change in a woman’s reproductive lifecycle. As we get older, our reproductive hormones slowly decline. Eventually, most of us stop having periods in our late forties or early fifties.

Unfortunately, a common side effect of losing reproductive hormones is vaginal atrophy. It makes the vagina feel dry, itchy, and often painful. It can also lead to pain when you pee, frequent urinary tract infections, and urinary incontinence.

Hormone replacement therapy, lubricants, and lifestyle changes are all emerging ways to treat vaginal atrophy. More recently, MonaLisa Touch has become a successful treatment for vaginal atrophy. It’s a breakthrough therapy that uses low-powered lasers to stimulate collagen production in the vagina.

It might sound scary, but it’s the same type of treatment that you can get done on your face at many skin clinics. In fact, a lot of beauty clinics offer MonaLisa Touch nowadays. It’s still best to get seen by a gynaecologist, before receiving the treatment.

Why you need a consultation with our gynaecologist?

At Northside Gynaecology, all MonaLisa Touch patients start their treatment with a consultation with a female gynaecologist. Instead of just treating the dryness, she’ll make sure it’s not caused by something other than menopause.

When our registered nurse, or one of our specialists performs MonaLisa Touch, you can trust that they know your body, and how to take care of it properly. Our nurse and specialists know how to be gentle, and because you are first examined by the gynaecologist, they are much more likely to notice if something’s abnormal.

If MonaLisa Touch doesn’t improve your symptoms, your gynaecologist is on hand to recommend other treatments or medications.

What does MonaLisa Touch do exactly?

MonaLisa Touch is a breakthrough in the treatment of vaginal dryness. It’s a non-invasive laser treatment that only takes 5–10 minutes, and it offers a range of benefits.

It’s ideal for women suffering from the symptoms of menopause, including vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, urinary incontinence, itchiness, and burning. MonaLisa Touch is especially suitable for women who’ve seen little to no improvement from hormonal treatments, or those who can’t go through hormone replacement therapy.

At Northside Gynaecology, MonaLisa Touch is performed by either one of our gynaecologists or by a registered nurse. A medical professional is involved at every step of the journey.

Dr Archna Saraswat pioneered the MonaLisa Touch treatment at Northside Gynaecology and was one of the first gynaecologists to provide it in Brisbane. If you want to know more about how MonaLisa Touch works and how it can help you, visit our MLT information page.

What happens after MonaLisa Touch?

There is no downtime after your session, and you can continue with your day as normal. All you need to do is refrain from having sex for 5 days following the procedure.

Results from the MLT are expected to last much longer than alternative treatments.

MonaLisa Touch works best after three treatments, about 4–6 weeks apart. About 3 months after your treatment, a Northside Gynaecology doctor will assess you to see if any further treatments will be required.

MLT rejuvenates and improves the health and function of the vagina, but more importantly, it improves your quality of life.

If you are suffering from menopause symptoms or vaginal atrophy, ask your GP for a referral to see the all-female team at Northside Gynaecology.
